This shot was inspired by a photo I saw on Rich Legg’s blog. Some may consider this copying. I could argue either way, but for me inspiration comes from many sources: viewing blogs, a magazine, a book, a billboard, television etc. No matter where the inspiration comes from, it’s a learning experience to shoot something like this.
The shot was pretty simple. Two soft boxes, one left of camera and one right. My goal was to have the light reflect off the barrel. You can view the colored version here. Which do you prefer?
Incidentally, I noticed after I shot this that Rich and I have the same leather notebook, go figure.
