During the VHS vs BETA war in the late 70's and early 80's my dad went the BETA route. All of our family videos are on BETA tapes now and thanks to VHS winning the war I am feeling the urge to get the videos digitized. I've been spending some time transferring them to digital and have to say it's been fun. I have my dad's BETA player that weights around 35lbs and want to get the tapes copied over before the machine dies. I could use a local service to transfer them but I don't want to pay them when I'm capable of doing it myself. Plus I'm a bit of a perfectionist and want to make sure it's done right. Thanks to SmugMug I'm able to upload them and share with my family and friends. If you have home movies in your closet, this is hopefully motivation to get them out and watch them and get them transferred onto digital media.
