Project[52]- ten

I'm a little late in getting a Kindle but I think it was worth the wait for version 3.  I enjoy reading when I have the time but hate packing around books with me.  The Kindle is a great device that can store a ton of books ( and documents) and is small and light enough that I don't mind packing it around in my daily backpack.  I opted to buy the kindle instead of the iPad for several reasons.  My day job is spent at a desk in front of a computer all day working on three monitors.  By the time I'm finished with work my eyes are tired and need a break from the glare.  The iPad is no different than a computer monitor for glare so for me it wouldn't be a device I would like to sit down and read on.  I'm a firm believer in making a purchase for something when I have the money and have a need for it.  I know a lot of people that purchase the latest and greatest gadgets because they want it and don't necessarily need it.  The iPad doesn't serve a purpose for me yet so the kindle was an easy decision.  I'm halfway into my first book and really enjoy the screen and the design of the kindle 3.

I agree on the glare factor, though I did end up with a first generation iPad late in the game. I've enjoyed having it, mainly as an entertainment device, but I've managed to find good productive uses for it as well. I do enjoy reading the books and watching various media. I do see the big advantage of the Kindle though when it comes to viewing in bright situations. Congrats on the purchase.
